We’re looking for an AI Research Intern to join the Translated AI Research team for a six month internship in our HQ in Pi Campus, Rome. What You’ll Do You will be part of Translated's AI Research team, working on our Text-to-Speech technology. The AI Research team collaborates closely with product and engineering teams and develops the technology to power Translated's next generation of products. Context: At Translated, we're revolutionizing video dubbing with Matedub ( www.matedub.com ), where text translation meets effortless voice synchronization. Our commitment to unparalleled quality and expressiveness drives our investment in cutting-edge speech synthesis. Equipped with our own recording studio and expert audio engineer, we swiftly produce dynamic voices. Our pursuit of innovation extends to refining neural architecture, optimizing for real-world applications like reduced latency and introducing groundbreaking features such as voice cloning and prosody control. Furthermore, our commitment to advancing natural TTS is exemplified in projects like the Voice For Purpose initiative, a meaningful endeavor where we give back voices to those who have lost them. Our work on TTS: Drawing inspiration from state-of-the-art models like VALL-E and Naturalspeech 3, we're pioneering advancements in speech synthesis. Candidates will spearhead experiments aimed at elevating speech quality through novel architectures, enhanced representation learning, and leveraging vast datasets to redefine synthetic voice production. Interns will have access to our proprietary studio-recorded datasets, meticulously curated by our in-house sound engineer. Collaborating closely with our dedicated text-to-speech production team and supported by robust engineering resources, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the Research and Development of Deep-Learning based TTS models and techniques in order to shape the future of expressive speech synthesis at Translated. In this role, you will: Implement state-of-the-art Deep Learning and TTS algorithms Build robust training pipelines Design and run experiments Evaluate and benchmark your results Scrape and prepare the data for your models to learn Stay up to date with the latest Deep Learning advances Present your results to other team members and management Qualifications Required Currently enrolled (or recent graduate) in a master's or PhD program in relevant STEM discipline such as computer science, machine learning or mathematics Hands-on experience with Deep Learning projects including implementation Excellent programming skills in Python and familiarity with common Deep Learning libraries such as Pytorch Familiarity with Docker and Unix OS, including running GPU experiments Interest in carrying out experimental research Bonus points if... Research focuses on refining translation quality in our production AI model, ModernMT, exploring methods to integrate inter-sentence dependencies and improve overall translation accuracy. With access to proprietary post-edited parallel datasets spanning Translated's twenty-year history, the team is driving innovation in language translation alongside our MT engineering and production team. Meetween: Translated spearheads the groundbreaking Meetween project, a 7M€, 4-year European research endeavor that leverages Large Language Models (LLMs) and multimodal foundation models to "solve speech". The project intersects research domains such as Deep Learning, Machine Translation, Automatic Speech Recognition and Translation, Summarization, and AI Digital Assistants. The team plays a pivotal role in advancing research outcomes, contributing to the development of foundation models capable of integrating text, audio, and video modalities within a unified architecture. DataTools4Heart: Our involvement in the DataTools4Heart project, also funded by the European Commission, underscores our commitment to transformative AI healthcare research. The team collaborates with an international consortium to develop privacy-preserving machine learning solutions aimed at revolutionizing cardiovascular healthcare, while safeguarding individual privacy rights. Drawing on the latest advancements in privacy-preserving techniques and machine learning, the team is collaborating closely with clinical partners to shape the future of AI-driven healthcare solutions.
